About Jan Owen
Jan was asked to share her knowledge, wisdom, and experience by Lama Lena, Cherokee Grandmother Redleaf, and Losang Samten. Although she declined to formally adopt a title, Jan freely shares her wisdom and compassionate presence with everyone who joins her groups or requests her teachings.
In 2009, Jan Owen met Wangdor Rimpoche and Lama Lena during Wangdor Rimpoche’s final tour. Until 2025, Jan supported and served as Lama Lena’s main attendant. She felt an immediate connection with both teachers and recognized Lama Lena as her mentor. Jan became an integral part of the team, handling everything from scheduling teachings to driving across the country. For many years, Jan has led weekly practice groups and continues to do so today. Her groups are open to everyone!
Monlam
With the wish for all beings to be free, free of the constrictions and contractions of learned and held thought patterns and belief systems,
free of the automatic reactivity of learned and held emotional patterns, and
free of the isolation and suffering caused by distorted perception,
I will always go for refuge to alive, vibrant, spacious, radiant awareness until awareness is ongoing, like the flow of a river.
Enthused by wisdom and compassion, today in the presence of all buddhas and bodhisattvas, of any lineage or none at all, and of any time or beyond time, I generate the mind of full awakening for the benefit of all beings.
As long as space remains, as long as beings remain, may I manifest in such a way as to ease and dispel the miseries in the universe.
